Houdini 20.5 is out!

🤯What's new?! More like, what isn't new - Houdini 20.5 includes hundreds of new workflows and improvements including the MPM solver for solid mechanics, Copernicus for image processing, Quick Surface Materials for access to Material X and new rigging and animation tools.

🏆Variety Honors New Class of 10 Animators to Watch -

The creators of Hollywood’s latest animated projects, like “Inside Out 2” and “Transformers One,” were celebrated at Variety‘s 10 Animators to Watch event on July 10 at The Aster in Hollywood, presented by Nickelodeon.

🥝Avatar films generate dozens of new jobs - Avatar sequels are creating hundreds of new jobs in Wellington's film industry, boosting the capital. Screen Wellington says at least 150 visual effects jobs will move from Los Angeles as production consolidates in New Zealand. More work is also expected for Wētā FX and other visual effects, animation, and gaming companies in New Zealand.

💥Urban did a podast with Bad Decisions Studio - Urban Bradesko, a host on the Bad Decisions podcast with Farhad and Faraz, shared how he started his studio at 17, got his first VFX studio job, and then moved into entrepreneurship. Check it out!

🗣️The Everything Procedural Conference (EPC) is happening at the University of Applied Sciences as we speak! From Monday, April 15 to Friday, April 19. Check out their YouTube channel where they will be uploading talks from the event.

🍁Jellyfish Pictures Launches In Canada - The award-winning global VFX and animation studio Jellyfish Pictures announces its expansion into the Canadian market, initially launching VFX operations in Toronto.

Jon Landau, award-winning producer of Avatar and Titanic, dies at 63 - Jon Landau - the Oscar-winning producer of some of the world's highest-grossing movies of all time, including Titanic and Avatar - has died aged 63.
